Seaside 101
Seaside 101 is a student-produced, municipal-government overview podcast about the City of Seaside, Oregon. Each episode, produced by Seaside High School students, gathers the perspectives and thoughts from department heads (Season One - 2021-22) within the City of Seaside as well as perspectives on hot-button and important issues (Season Two - 2022-23) happening in Seaside, Oregon and throughout Oregon’s North Coast region. Seniors Aiden Ousley and Mary Roberto started this project in the winter of 2021, collecting interviews in the fall and producing episodes as they wrapped up their final trimester before graduation in the spring of 2022. Season Two is being led by seniors Abby Nofield, Ryan Varozza and Brody Hillman. Episodes were recorded with more than 15 guests over the course of four months and will be released in the late winter and early spring of 2023. Supported with administrative help at the City of Seaside, this project was a collaborative effort and placed 2nd at the Oregon High School Future Business Leaders of America State Conference and Competition.
